Terms & Conditions

1. OVERVIEW

These Terms & Conditions apply to all sales made by Coventry Bespoke Cycles.

By purchasing a bicycle or product from us, you agree to the terms set out below.

We operate a specialist sales model focused on carefully prepared, high-quality bicycles, with a strong emphasis on personal handover and customer suitability.

2. SALES MODEL

We operate a hybrid sales model:

  • In-person sales (non-distance sales) — where the bicycle is viewed, collected, or hand-delivered in person
  • Distance sales — where a purchase is completed remotely without physical viewing prior to delivery

The classification of the sale determines the applicable consumer rights under UK law.

3. PRICING & PAYMENT

We accept payment via:

  • Bank transfer
  • Debit or credit card (in person or remotely)
  • Online checkout (WooCommerce)
  • PayPal (including PayPal Pay in 3 where available)

Full payment must be cleared before any bicycle is released or delivered.

4. DEPOSITS & HOLDING BIKES

We may accept deposits to reserve a bicycle.

  • Deposits are non-refundable if the buyer chooses not to proceed, except where cancellation rights apply under UK consumer law
  • Bicycles may be held subject to viewing by prior agreement
  • If the bicycle is found to be materially different from its description, the deposit will be refunded

We do not hold bikes without commitment, as stock is limited.

5. DELIVERY & COLLECTION

IN-PERSON HANDOVER (PREFERRED)

Where possible, bicycles are:

  • Collected in person, or
  • Hand-delivered directly by us

This ensures correct setup, suitability, and a proper handover.

COURIER DELIVERY

Where distance requires it, we offer UK delivery via trusted national carriers (typically DHL or Parcelforce).

  • Standard delivery charge: £75 (may vary depending on location)
  • All bicycles are professionally packed prior to dispatch

6. RISK & DELIVERY RESPONSIBILITY

  • Risk remains with us until the bicycle is delivered to you
  • Upon delivery, the customer is responsible for inspecting the bicycle

Any visible damage should be reported as soon as reasonably possible after delivery, ideally within 24 hours, with supporting evidence.

Failure to report within this timeframe may affect any claim.

This does not affect your statutory rights.

7. DISTANCE SALES (CANCELLATION RIGHTS)

For purchases classified as distance sales, you have the right to cancel within 14 days of delivery under UK Consumer Contracts Regulations.

To exercise this right:

  • You must notify us in writing within the 14-day period
  • The bicycle must be returned in the same condition as supplied

This right does not apply to in-person (non-distance) sales.

RETURNS CONDITIONS

  • The customer is responsible for return shipping costs
  • The bicycle must be properly packaged (we can advise on this)
  • We may make reasonable deductions to reflect any loss in value resulting from handling beyond what is necessary to inspect the bicycle
  • We may withhold a refund until the bicycle has been returned to us and inspected

Refunds are processed once the bicycle has been received and assessed.

8. NON-DISTANCE SALES

For in-person purchases:

  • Cancellation rights under distance selling regulations do not apply
  • Your statutory rights under UK consumer law remain fully in place

We take time to ensure each bike is right before sale.

9. WARRANTY

All bicycles are sold with our warranty as outlined on our Warranty page.

This includes:

  • 12-month structural warranty (frame and fork)
  • 3-month mechanical components warranty

Full details are available on the Warranty page.

10. MANUFACTURER WARRANTIES

Where applicable, any remaining manufacturer warranty will be passed on where possible.

All manufacturer warranties remain subject to their own terms and conditions.

11. USE & CARE

Bicycles must be:

  • Properly maintained
  • Used within normal intended riding conditions

Failure to maintain the bicycle may affect warranty eligibility.

12. LIABILITY

We are not liable for:

  • Misuse, neglect, or improper maintenance
  • Damage caused after delivery
  • Third-party modifications or repairs without prior agreement

Nothing in these terms limits your statutory rights.

13. ACCURACY OF DESCRIPTIONS

We aim to ensure all bicycles are described accurately and honestly.

As many bikes are pre-owned:

  • Minor cosmetic imperfections may be present
  • These do not affect performance and are consistent with normal use
